Eid Al Adha is the second of the two main festivals in Islam alongside Eid al-Fitr. It falls on the 10th of Dhu al-Hijja, the twelfth and final month of the Islamic calendar.

The event honours the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God's command.

Eid means 'festival', 'celebration', 'feast day', or 'holiday' and the words al aḍḥā mean 'the sacrifice' (animal sacrifice), 'the offering' - Celebration of the Sacrifice/Offering.

The London Bridge Islamic Centre hosts Eid by the River to celebrate this holy festival and to invite people of all backgrounds, whether Muslim or not, to get to know one another and to share in the values of peace, hope and unity.

The special event will include an array of performances, so come along an enjoy this first Eid by the River full of poetry, nasheed songs, comedy as well as children's and family activities.
